10 Questions with Chuck Lamb - JAM interview

Theano and Chuck Lamb
live
their dreams through music.
Music is their child
and their home.

Theano came from the womb singing and never ceased. Sight reading in choirs by the age of 5 and playing violin in orchestra -- the ensuing euphoria from these music makings put light on the instrinsic path that music was/is for her. She is an intuitively based improvisationalist and a sound morpher as well as a composer. She allows symphonies to pass through her like rivers that she breathes in and out. Life is the inspiration. Singing is her odyssey. As an infant Chuck was mesmerized by the sounds of Mozart and Chopin by his older brother and sister. At 10 his musical career began behind a set of red sparkle drums. As his drumsets evolved so did his ears.....and so did his love of sound. By 15 he had added other percussion instruments and the piano to his hands. By 22 his original compositions brought him his first recording deal.

Chuck co-founded the group DRY JACK; with which he released two internationally acclaimed albums and was cited in The Rolling Stone History of Music as one of the premier jazz fusion groups. Joining forces with Theano -- who appears on the worldwide TV documentary Women in Jazz (hosted by Carmen McCrae) -- they have composed and recorded their original music for the last 15 years. They also offer a vocal playshop called the One Voice Choir.

Theano and Chuck Lamb have garnered acclaim from around the world including from: Billboard, Downbeat, Jazz Times, Keyboard, and Cadence magazines and The Los Angelos Times and The New York Times. These artists have produced and relased nine albums of their exquisite original music. They have had the real privilege of making music with many wonderful artists including Paul McCandless, Bela Fleck, Jack DeJohnette, Eddie Jefferson, Ursula Dudiak, Spyro Gyra, Tuck & Patti, Red Rodney, Dave Weckel, and Mark Murphy, among others. They have performances in three television programs for PBS and A&E.
